Interested in a Cadron Labrador?

Welcoming a dog into your family is a decision that should not be taken lightly. It is a lifelong commitment, as they truly are a member of the family. However, we are committed to guiding you throughout the entire process! As ethical and quality breeders, it is essential that we factor in health, conformation and temperament with each of our planned breeding's. Like all of our dogs, our litters are born and raised in our home, and socialized early with an emphasis placed on early neurological stimulation. Before going home, all puppies are exposed to crate training, clicker training, various sounds and surfaces as well as vet checked. Additionally, each puppy will go home with a portfolio that includes copies of parents OFA clearances, pedigrees, vaccine report, helpful information, clicker trainer, and AKC Reunite Microchipped (pre-paid).

Why should I choose a Cadron Dog?

Unfortunately, there are many backyard breeders in today's society, but especially when it comes to Labradors. For years now, we have put such a focus on building a quality, and ethical program. Our Labradors are our pets first, and are treated as family. If it is not a dog we would personally want as a pet, and they do not conform to the breed standard, then this is a dog that should not be bred. Additionally, all dogs must pass their health clearances from OFA as well as a genetic panel (we use Pawprint Genetics).  Here at Cadron Ridge, health testing is just the minimum requirement and factor for choosing to breed a dog. What other qualities and qualifying factors does this particular dog bring to the table? We feel that yes, you can have a beautiful Labrador, but what is their demeanor like? This is of upmost importance to us. We expect them not only to physically conform to the breed standard, but to uphold their calm, and friendly temperament. To take it a step further, we show many of our Labradors in AKC Conformation shows around the US, and are active members of therapy work through Therapy Dogs

United.

What is the process?

Each litter is carefully planned and prepped for. They are raised indoors and given the best care from day one.

  • All puppies are sold on AKC Limited Registration

  • Puppies cannot leave until they are at least 8 weeks of age

  • All puppies will leave current on all age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped via AKC Reunite (this is prepaid), and vet checked before leaving

  • All parents are tested for hips/elbows/heart via the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals as well as genetically tested via Pawprint Genetics for Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-PRCD), Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Hereditary Nasal Parakeratosis (HNPK), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM), Retinal Dysplasia, Skeletal Dysplasia to ensure that every puppy is as healthy as possible.

  • Deposits are required to hold a particular place in line for a puppy. We do require you place a deposit for either a male or female and either yellow or black.

  • How do I place a deposit?
After approval, families can place a deposit on our "Deposits" page under the litter in which you are seeking. We take only a few deposits per litter, and you will need to commit to a particular color and sex.
  • I placed a deposit for 1st pick black male, and no black males were born. What happens to my deposit?
While we do allow families the option to place a deposit for a particular pick, we cannot guarantee sex/color with a litter. However, we do offer to transfer to an available puppy or future litter if we have one. We are also happy to refund your deposit! We try our best to place our families with a puppy.
  • When do puppies go home?
Our English Labradors cannot leave until they are 8 weeks of age. Doing so will ensure that the puppy has had plenty of time to socialize and learn essential behavioral skills. Before leaving, puppies go through early neurological stimulation (ENS), and are started on crate training as well as clicker training. They are raised indoors only, and exposed to various sounds, and surfaces.
  • How do I know I am getting a healthy puppy from you?
Health is a priority here at Cadron Ridge Labradors. All breeding dogs have gone through recommended health testing per The Labrador Retriever parent club (LRC) and the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA). Copies of all health testing is also provided with each puppy portfolio. Additionally, before leaving, each puppy goes through an extensive overall health check with our veterinarian to ensure that each puppy is healthy before leaving. All puppies are current on age appropriate vaccines and deworming before going home.
  • What if I place a deposit, and I cannot take a puppy?
Committing to a puppy is a very serious decision. We do understand that life can happen. Deposits are non-refundable, but can be transferred to a future litter. However, the cutoff point to retain your deposit and transfer to a future litter is when the puppy is 4 weeks of age. The day they turn 5 weeks of age, you will not be able to retain your deposit and transfer to a future litter. You would be required to place a new deposit for a future litter. For this reason, we ask that you seriously think about adding a puppy to your family BEFORE placing your deposit and committing to a puppy. Again, this will be your new family member, and this decision should not be taken lightly.
  • Where are you located?
We are located in Greenbrier, Arkansas. About 35/40 minutes away from the airport located in Little Rock, Arkansas.
  • What is your policy on spaying/neutering my pet?
We strongly recommend waiting until a dog is between the ages of 18-24 months before spaying or neutering. A dog is constantly growing throughout puppyhood and adolescence. During these periods, not only do dogs get bigger, but their bones and joints fully form. If a dog is spayed or neutered too early, the lack of mature reproductive organs impacts hormone production, preventing connective tissues from developing properly. There are a multitude of articles sharing insight on the negative effects of spaying/neutering early. For more information, please view the article shared by AKC: https://www.akc.org/expert-advice/news/study-updates-spay-neuter-guidelines/
  • Do you offer a health guarantee?
We proudly stand behind each breeding, and do offer a health guarantee for a specific period, ensuring that your pet is free of genetic defects or illnesses upon purchase. Please refer to our contract for details.
  • Can I see references from previous buyers or reviews of your breeding program?
Absolutely! We are happy to provide multiple referrals from previous families. Many of which own 2-3 Cadron dogs!
  • Can I visit your facility?
As a small hobby breeder, our Labradors are raised in our home. For this reason, we do not allow random visitors to just pop in, as we are sure you can understand as to why. Additionally, we do not have a "barn in the back" where our dogs are raised. All of our dogs are family and treated as such. When we have a litter, they are raised inside our home. We do not even allow for them to go outside until they've had their first set of vaccinations. Health and safety is our priority!
  • What support or resources do you offer to new pet owners after?
We are always available for support after our puppies leave. You have to remember that we loved them first! We hand whelp each puppy, raise them, and love them before leaving. We are just as committed to the puppy as you are, and want to always be available to help when needed. We even have a "Cadron Ridge Family Page" on Facebook just for Cadron homes. It is a fun way for us to connect, share fun memories, stories, etc of our Cadron dogs. We also pop in and ask if anyone needs tips, help, etc. This is definitely not required, but is a lot of fun!
  • How do I pick my puppy?
After placing your deposit, you will be guaranteed a particular place in line for the sex/color of your choice given the fact that we were able to fill your deposit. We post regular updates on our Facebook page. At 3 weeks of age, we post individual portraits of each puppy, and will do this until age 6 weeks. At 6 weeks, picks are made in the order of deposits. We are very forthcoming in helping families make the decision based on what their wants/needs are. I.E. Looking for a service dog, hunting companion, "fat, lazy puppy", etc.
